Dominik Gaus

Dominik Gaus has been the principal trumpet of the Berliner Symphoniker (Berlin Symphony Orchestra) since 2018. He regularly performs with renowned ensembles throughout Germany and has been a guest with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra (RSB), the Deutsches Kammerorchester Berlin, the Brandenburger Symphoniker, the Kammersymphonie Berlin, the Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt (Oder), and the Neubrandenburger Philharmonie, among others. Alongside his ongoing orchestral engagements, international appearances have taken him to Japan as a substitute for principal trumpet with the Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa.

In addition to his work in the classical concert field, Dominik Gaus is regularly involved in crossover projects and studio recordings — including collaborations with the German Pops Orchestra — and can also be heard in film music projects at the Kino Babylon with the Babylon Orchester Berlin.

After studying trumpet with Prof. Malte Burba at the University of Music Mainz, Dominik Gaus completed his Bachelor’s degree at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin and earned his Master of Music at the Berlin University of the Arts under Prof. Konradin Groth (former principal trumpet of the Berlin Philharmonic).

He is also active in chamber music and co-founded the Berlin Brass Quintet in 2012, an ensemble devoted to a wide stylistic range. Their debut album United (2017) highlights the versatility of the brass repertoire.

Dominik Gaus is also dedicated to solo repertoire. Since 2017, he has regularly recorded works for trumpet featuring his Schilke instruments.
