Robert Kase

Bob Kase has a wide background as an educator, administrator, business leader and performer. As a recording artist, Kase has performed on more than 200 recording projects, including four solo jazz recordings with his own quintet and a latest CD titled “As We Gather” for the Altenburgh Jazz recording label. His trumpet sound is familiar to many through movie sound tracks, pop artists, jazz recordings, commercial jingles and broadway musicals. As a studio artist his has performed with many international recording stars beginning his career in 1969 with Sonny and Cher, continuing a long and successful performing career including stints with Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Andy Williams, Peggy Lee, The Temptations, Lena Horne, Wayne Newton, Natalie Cole, and many others.

Dr. Kase is currently Dean of the School of Fine Arts at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He holds degrees from the University Minnesota and the University of North Texas. He formerly served as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of St. Francis, and Chair of the Music Department and Professor of Music at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point. He has been active as a music administrator and leader in music education organizations. He is often called to give presentations and lectures on trumpet performance, music education issues, leadership seminars and liberal arts workshops. He has written four books and numerous journal and magazine articles and is a leader in various administrative capacities. He has conducted various ensembles and honor groups all over the United States and continually appears as guest artist in residence in Europe and Scandinavia. He is an active trumpet artist for the Schilke Music Corporation and his successful work as an artist/clinician has placed him in high demand as soloist and lecturer in a wide variety of mediums including appearances as soloist with the International Trumpet Guild in Germany, tours to Russia, France, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany and more. He has been a regular solo artist at festivals, concerts, schools and universities around the world.

As a composer, Kase has published music, method books, solo and ensemble literature for trumpet, jazz ensembles, choir, orchestra, and concert bands. He most recently completed a commission entitled “On The Third Day” a jazz mass for two jazz singers, full choir, and jazz orchestra.
