S Series Bb Trumpet
Retaining the same response and excellent intonation that is characteristic of the “B” and “X” series models, the "S" series play with a compact, focused, resonate center to the sound. Distinguished by the bell construction, bracing, and different mouth pipe and tuning slide design, the “S” series instruments emphasize the sound core and are ideal for both classical and commercial performance. All “S” series trumpet models share the same bell, which is referred to as a ML bell or a #2 bell. The bell has the same taper as the bell used on the B5 but utilize a yellow brass bell with a soldered bell bead. This feature helps with the sound focus and emphasizes the resonant core of the sound at the louder dynamic levels. The “S” series Main Tuning Slide has a semi-square shaped bow with a brace providing additional resistance and sound focus rather than the rounded “brace-less” slide on the “B” and “X” series models.

The E3L-4 in Eb has an additional fourth valve adding a lower fourth to the trumpet’s range. The bell is larger in the throat with a quicker taper than the bell supplied with the model E3L trumpet and has a bigger feel. This instrument is extremely versatile and ideal for large ensemble & symphonic performance. In Eb only, these instruments possess a dark, full-bodied sound that balances well within a section when other players are using Bb or C trumpets.

This model is ideal for solo or section playing within the orchestra when an Eb trumpet is desired.

In the tradition of the British Brass Band, the XA1 has a vintage cornet design with a tighter wrap that permits the player a dark, rich and round sound. The XA1 provides a wonderful response at lower dynamic levels with a smooth even quality in color and intonation in all registers. Additionally, the player will find articulation clarity from high to low and good projection at the highest volume. The XA7 offers the same bell as the XA1 but built with a medium bore. This allows the instrument to blow with slightly more resistance than the XA1.

The A1 long model Bb cornet is an ideal match for the player looking for a conical sound quality but needs additional focus and projection at louder dynamic levels. While maintaining a solid center to the sound, the A1 allows the player warmth for Dixieland, small combo jazz or large ensemble performance where the projection of a trumpet is required yet a rounder cornet sound is desired. The A2 model is also a medium large with the tighter #2 taper with compact bell. This provides a more compact, direct feel with slightly more resistance.

It also includes a 3rd valve trigger and two leadpipes providing different tapers for small as well as larger shank (tapered) mouthpieces.
